3-Hydroxyhericenone F
3-Hydroxyhericenone F is a neuroprotective agent. Hydroxyhericenone F protects cells against NaN3-induced toxicity, ultrastructural changes, and alterations in mitochondrial respiratory chain complexes. 3-Hydroxyhericenone F decreases intracellular ROS and calcium levels, increases mitochondrial membrane potential and ATP levels, attenuates NaN3 -induced changes in apoptosis-related proteins, and protects neuronal cells from endoplasmic reticulum stress-dependent cell death. 3-Hydroxyhericenone F can be used in research related to cancer, Alzheimer's disease, and neurodegenerative diseases.

Biological Activity
Description
In Vitro
3-Hydroxyhericenone F (0.05-2.00 µg/mL; 2-24 h) significantly protects PC12 cells against NaN3-induced cytotoxicity and restores cell viability[1].
3-Hydroxyhericenone F (0.05-1.50 µg/mL; 2-24 h) significantly increases mitochondrial complex I, V, and ATP levels in NaN3-induced PC12 cells[1].
3-Hydroxyhericenone F (0.5-1.50 µg/mL; 2-24 h) reverses the NaN3-induced upregulation of p21, NF-κB p65, and PARP1 mRNA expression in PC12 cells[1].
3-Hydroxyhericenone F (0.05-1.50 µg/mL; 2-24 h) downregulates BACE1, p-Tau, and Aβ42 protein expression and reverses NaN3-induced expression of p21, NF-κB p65, and PARP1 in PC12 cells[1].
3-Hydroxyhericenone F (1.7-17 μM; 24 h) exhibits significant protective activity against TG-induced endoplasmic reticulum stress and moderate protective activity against TM-induced endoplasmic reticulum stress in Neuro2a cells[3].
