3-Penten-2-one
Based on 1 Customer Validation
3‑Penten‑2‑one (Ethylideneacetone; (3Z)-pent-3-en-2-one) is an endogenous metabolite and a small-molecule ketone with antifungal activity. 3‑Penten‑2‑one induces HO‑1 expression, inhibits iNOS expression and NO production in lipopolysaccharide-activated RAW264.7 macrophages, and exerts anti-inflammatory effects. 3‑Penten‑2‑one inhibits the growth of Penicillium italicum, disrupts fungal hyphal and spore morphology and damages the cell membrane, and also exhibits inhibitory activity against various plant pathogenic fungi. 3-Penten-2-one can be used in research related to fungal infections and inflammatory diseases.

In Vitro
3-Penten-2-one (7 d) completely inhibits the mycelial growth of Penicillium italicum Q-1, with both MIC and MBC of 4 μL/L[4].
3-Penten-2-one (4 μL/L; 48 h) disrupts the mycelial morphology of Penicillium italicum Q-1, causing shrinkage and collapse; it impairs cell membrane integrity[4].
3-Penten-2-one (1/4 MIC-2 MIC; 24-48 h) increases the extracellular conductivity and decreases the pH of Penicillium italicum Q-1, indicating disruption of membrane permeability and leakage of acidic substances; increases MDA levels, indicating membrane lipid peroxidation; and decreases ergosterol content, indicating interference with membrane synthesis[4].
3-Penten-2-one (8 μL/L; fumigation for 3 d; storage for 6 d) optimally reduces the incidence and browning of Citrus reticulata 'Shiyueju' during postharvest storage[4].
3-Penten-2-one (F38) at a 102 dilution (approximately 7.3 g/L) completely inhibits the growth of Alternaria solani, Gibberella zeae, and Penicillium restrictum NS1[5].
3-Penten-2-one (1-10 μM; 6 h) inhibits LPS-induced NO production and iNOS expression in RAW264.7 macrophages[1].
3-Penten-2-one is consistently produced by Streptomyces scabiei 87-22 in ISP1-MHB-LB-ISP6-TSB cultures, with an average Log2 FC of 3.45[5].
