Definition:
EC Tree > 5 Isomerases > 5.4 Intramolecular transferases > 5.4.99 Transferring other groups > 5.4.99.3 2-acetolactate mutase
2-Acetolactate mutase requires ascorbic acid; it also converts 2-aceto-2-hydroxybutanoate into 3-hydroxy-3-methyl-2-oxopentanoate. It is found in Mycobacterium tuberculosis, isomerizing 2-acetolactate into 3-hydroxy-3-methyl-2-oxobutanoate in branched-chain amino acid biosynthesis. Structurally it is an Ilv5 family Fe-S mutase.
