2'-Phosphotransferase

Definition:

EC Tree > 2 Transferases > 2.7 Transferring phosphorus-containing groups > 2.7.1 Phosphotransferases with an alcohol group as acceptor > 2.7.1.160 2'-phosphotransferase
2'-Phosphotransferase is the tRNA-splicing NAD+-dependent enzyme. In two steps it removes the 2'-phosphate left on ligated yeast tRNA: first the 2'-phosphate is ADP-ribosylated from NAD+, releasing nicotinamide and forming an ADP-ribosylated tRNA intermediate; then mature dephosphorylated tRNA is released together with ADP-ribose 1''-2''-cyclic phosphate. It is highly specific for oligonucleotides carrying an internal 2'-phosphate and does not act on terminal 5'- or 3'-phosphate. Expected in Eukaryota, Bacteria and Archaea.
