2-Nitropropane dioxygenase
Definition:
EC Tree > 1 Oxidoreductases > 1.13 Acting on single donors with incorporation of molecular oxygen (oxygenases) > 1.13.11 With incorporation of two atoms of oxygen > 1.13.11.32 2-nitropropane dioxygenase
2-Nitropropane dioxygenase is a flavoprotein: the Neurospora crassa enzyme carries non-covalently bound FMN, the Williopsis mrakii enzyme FAD. Unlike nitroalkane oxidase (EC 1.7.3.1), its preferred substrates are anionic nitronates rather than neutral nitroalkanes; it oxygenates the nitronate to the corresponding carbonyl and nitrite.
