4-Hydroxytryptamine kinase is the psilocybin-biosynthesis kinase of Psilocybe fungi. It phosphorylates 4-hydroxytryptamine (psilocin) on the 4-hydroxyl, releasing ADP and 4-hydroxytryptamine 4-phosphate — psilocybin, the psychoactive phosphoindole. It also acts on 4-hydroxy-L-tryptophan in vitro. Expected in Psilocybe.
