8-Prenyltransferase
Definition:
EC Tree > 2 Transferases > 2.5 Transferring alkyl or aryl groups, other than methyl groups > 2.5.1 Transferring alkyl or aryl groups, other than methyl groups (only sub-subclass identified to date) > 2.5.1.B45 8-prenyltransferase
8-Prenyltransferase is a Hypericum xanthone-biosynthesis prenyltransferase. It transfers the dimethylallyl group from dimethylallyl diphosphate onto the 8-position of 1,3,6,7-tetrahydroxyxanthone, releasing diphosphate and forming 1,3,6,7-tetrahydroxy-8-prenylxanthone, the first prenylated intermediate in hypericin and polycyclic polyprenylated acylphloroglucinol (PPAP) pathways. It occurs in Hypericum.
