EC Tree > 1 Oxidoreductases > 1.13 Acting on single donors with incorporation of molecular oxygen (oxygenases) > 1.13.11 With incorporation of two atoms of oxygen > 1.13.11.50 acetylacetone-cleaving enzyme
Acetylacetone-cleaving enzyme is an Fe(II)-dependent dioxygenase catalyzing the first step of acetylacetone degradation in Acinetobacter johnsonii. Acetylacetone is by far the best substrate, but heptane-3,5-dione, octane-2,4-dione, 2-acetylcyclohexanone and ethyl acetoacetate can also act; with pentane-2,4-dione plus O2 it yields acetate and 2-oxopropanal.
