EC Tree > 3 Hydrolases > 3.1 Acting on ester bonds > 3.1.1 Carboxylic-ester hydrolases > 3.1.1.80 acetylajmaline esterase
Acetylajmaline esterase is the Rauvolfia indole-alkaloid ajmaline-biosynthesis GDSL serine esterase. It specifically hydrolyzes 17-O-acetylajmaline (and 17-O-acetylnorajmaline), releasing ajmaline/norajmaline and acetate; it does not act on vinorine, vomilenine, 1,2-dihydrovomilenine or 1,2-dihydroraucaffricine. Expected in Rauvolfia.
