Acetylxylan esterase is the hemicellulose-deacetylating carbohydrate esterase. It removes acetyl groups from polymeric xylan, acetylated xylose, acetylated glucose, alpha-naphthyl acetate and p-nitrophenyl acetate, but not triacetylglycerol, acetylated mannan or pectin. Expected in Bacteria and Eukaryota.
