Acyloxyacyl hydrolase is the leukocyte LPS-detoxifying enzyme. It hydrolyzes the secondary 3-(acyloxy)acyl groups on O-3 of lipid A of Salmonella typhimurium LPS, releasing 3-hydroxyacyl disaccharide and saturated C12-C16 fatty acid, detoxifying endotoxin; it also carries broad phospholipase A1/A2, lysophospholipase and PI-deacylase activities but not triacylglycerols. Expected in Bacteria and Eukaryota.
