Adenosine kinase is the adenosine-salvage kinase. It phosphorylates adenosine on the 5'-hydroxyl, releasing ADP and AMP; 2-aminoadenosine can also act as acceptor. By controlling intracellular adenosine levels, it regulates purine recycling and adenosine signaling. Expected in Eukaryota and Bacteria.
