Adenosyl-chloride synthase

Definition:

EC Tree > 2 Transferases > 2.5 Transferring alkyl or aryl groups, other than methyl groups > 2.5.1 Transferring alkyl or aryl groups, other than methyl groups (only sub-subclass identified to date) > 2.5.1.94 adenosyl-chloride synthase
Adenosyl-chloride synthase is a Salinispora tropica halogenase. It transfers the 5'-deoxyadenosyl group of S-adenosyl-L-methionine onto chloride, releasing L-methionine and forming 5-deoxy-5-chloroadenosine, an early intermediate in the biosynthesis of the proteasome inhibitor salinosporamide A. It is very similar to EC 2.5.1.63 adenosyl-fluoride synthase but does not accept fluoride. It occurs in Eukaryota and Bacteria.
