Aminoimidazolase is an iron-dependent deaminase from Clostridium cylindrosporum, part of the xanthine-degradation pathway in some bacteria. The product imidazol-4-one is converted nonenzymically to formiminoglycine. It hydrolyzes 4-aminoimidazole into imidazol-4-one and ammonia. In clostridia it degrades xanthine. It requires Fe2+.
