Agmatinase
Definition:
EC Tree > 3 Hydrolases > 3.5 Acting on carbon-nitrogen bonds, other than peptide bonds > 3.5.3 In linear amidines > 3.5.3.11 agmatinase
Agmatine deiminase is a hydrolase found in bacteria and eukaryotes. The plant enzyme also catalyzes EC 2.1.3.3, EC 2.1.3.6 and EC 2.7.2.2, functioning as a putrescine synthase that converts agmatine and ornithine into putrescine and citrulline. It hydrolyzes agmatine into N-carbamoylputrescine and ammonia. In bacteria and plants it runs the agmatine deiminase pathway. It features a deiminase fold.
