Alkyl sulfatase

Definition:

EC Tree > 1 Oxidoreductases > 1.14 Acting on paired donors, with incorporation or reduction of molecular oxygen > 1.14.11 With 2-oxoglutarate as one donor, and incorporation of one atom of oxygen into each donor > 1.14.11.77 alkyl sulfatase
Alkyl sulfatases are divided into type I (catalytic 3-oxo-L-alanine), type II (non-heme-iron-dependent dioxygenases) and type III (metallo-β-lactamase fold with two Zn ions). The type II sulfatases are 2-oxoglutarate-dependent dioxygenases that oxidize the C–H bond of a primary alkyl sulfate ester to an aldehyde, releasing sulfate, succinate and CO2.
