Alpha,alpha-phosphotrehalase
Definition:
EC Tree > 3 Hydrolases > 3.2 Glycosylases > 3.2.1 Glycosidases, i.e. enzymes that hydrolyse O- and S-glycosyl compounds > 3.2.1.93 alpha,alpha-phosphotrehalase
Alpha,alpha-phosphotrehalase is a trehalose-6-phosphate-hydrolysing glycosidase that catalyses alpha,alpha-trehalose 6-phosphate plus water into D-glucose and D-glucose 6-phosphate. By splitting the phosphorylated storage disaccharide it mobilises trehalose-6-phosphate in bacterial trehalose metabolism. It is distributed across Bacteria and Eukaryota.
