Alpha-eudesmol synthase
Definition:
EC Tree > 4 Lyases > 4.2 Carbon-oxygen lyases > 4.2.3 Acting on phosphates > 4.2.3.85 alpha-eudesmol synthase
Alpha-eudesmol synthase from ginger (Zingiber zerumbet) gives 62.6% beta-eudesmol, 16.8% 10-epi-gamma-eudesmol, 10% alpha-eudesmol and 5.6% aristolene (cf. EC 4.2.3.68 and EC 4.2.3.84). With water it converts (2E,6E)-farnesyl diphosphate into alpha-eudesmol and diphosphate. It is found in Bacteria and Eukaryota. Structurally it is a sesquiterpene cyclase.
