Alpha-muurolene synthase is a class I sesquiterpene cyclase characterized from the fungus Coprinus cinereus. It cyclizes (2E,6E)-farnesyl diphosphate into alpha-muurolene and diphosphate, also giving germacrene A and gamma-muurolene (see EC 4.2.3.23 and EC 4.2.3.126). It appears in viruses and cellular organisms. Structurally it is a sesquiterpene cyclase.
