Alpha-santalene synthase
Definition:
EC Tree > 4 Lyases > 4.2 Carbon-oxygen lyases > 4.2.3 Acting on phosphates > 4.2.3.82 alpha-santalene synthase
Alpha-santalene synthase is a sesquiterpene cyclase that synthesizes a mixture from (2E,6E)-farnesyl diphosphate: (+)-alpha-santalene, (-)-beta-santalene, (-)-exo-alpha-bergamotene and traces of (+)-epi-beta-santalene (see EC 4.2.3.83 and EC 4.2.3.81; cf. EC 4.2.3.50). It cyclizes (2E,6E)-farnesyl diphosphate into (+)-alpha-santalene and diphosphate. Structurally it is a sandalwood sesquiterpene cyclase.
