Amine transaminase is a broad-spectrum (S)-selective amine PLP enzyme used in biocatalysis. It reversibly transaminates pyruvate with (S)-1-phenylethylamine, releasing L-alanine and acetophenone, and is widely used for chiral amine synthesis and deracemization. It occurs in viruses and cellular organisms.
