Anhydrosialidase is a glycoside-cleaving lyase that eliminates alpha-sialyl groups from N-acetylneuraminic-acid glycosides, releasing 2,7-anhydro-alpha-N-acetylneuraminate; it also acts on N-glycolylneuraminate glycosides. It is compared with EC 3.2.1.18 (exo-alpha-sialidase) and EC 3.2.1.129 (endo-alpha-sialidase). It is found in Eukaryota and Bacteria. Structurally it is an anhydro-sialidase.
