Arogenate dehydratase is a shikimate-pathway enzyme that dehydrates and decarboxylates L-arogenate into L-phenylalanine, water and CO2; it also acts on prephenate and D-prephenyllactate (cf. EC 4.2.1.51). It is found in Eukaryota and Bacteria. Structurally it is an arogenate dehydratase/chorismate-mutase-family enzyme.
