Aryl sulfotransferase
Definition:
EC Tree > 2 Transferases > 2.8 Transferring sulfur-containing groups > 2.8.2 Sulfotransferases > 2.8.2.1 aryl sulfotransferase
Aryl sulfotransferase is the broad phenol/small-molecule sulfating enzyme. Using 3'-phosphoadenylyl sulfate (PAPS) as sulfate donor, it sulfates a phenol, releasing adenosine 3',5'-bisphosphate and aryl sulfate; organic hydroxylamines are not substrates. Expected in Eukaryota and Bacteria.
