Aspartate dehydrogenase
Definition:
EC Tree > 1 Oxidoreductases > 1.4 Acting on the CH-NH2 group of donors > 1.4.1 With NAD+ or NADP+ as acceptor > 1.4.1.21 aspartate dehydrogenase
Aspartate dehydrogenase oxidizes L-aspartate to 2-iminosuccinate (spontaneously hydrolyzes to oxaloacetate and NH3) with NAD(P)+; in some archaea/bacteria the iminosuccinate is channeled directly to quinolinate synthase for NAD+ biosynthesis.
