Atrolysin E
Definition:
EC Tree > 3 Hydrolases > 3.4 Acting on peptide bonds (peptidases) > 3.4.24 Metalloendopeptidases > 3.4.24.44 atrolysin E
Atrolysin F is a 64-kDa hemorrhagic zinc metalloendopeptidase from the western diamondback rattlesnake (Crotalus atrox) venom, in peptidase family M12, that digests the gamma chain of fibrinogen and is immunologically distinct from atrolysin A. It cleaves Val2-/-Asn, Gln4-/-His, Leu6-/-Cys, His10-/-Leu, Ala14-/-Leu and Tyr16-/-Leu in the insulin B chain. In venom it disrupts fibrinogen clotting. It features an M12-family zinc catalytic domain.
