Atromentin synthase

Definition:

EC Tree > 6 Ligases > 6.4 Forming carbon-carbon bonds > 6.4.1 Ligases that form carbon-carbon bonds (only sub-subclass identified to date) > 6.4.1.10 atromentin synthase
Atromentin synthase requires Mg2+ and is found in fungi such as Boletales and Eurotiales. It is an NRPS-like enzyme with adenylation (A), aryl-carrier protein (ACP) and thioesterase (TE) domains: it adenylates 3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)pyruvate and dimerizes/cyclizes two molecules to atromentin. Structurally it is an A-ACP-TE NRPS-like enzyme.
