Beta-copaene synthase
Definition:
EC Tree > 4 Lyases > 4.2 Carbon-oxygen lyases > 4.2.3 Acting on phosphates > 4.2.3.127 beta-copaene synthase
Beta-copaene synthase is a Mg2+-dependent (not Mn2+) sesquiterpene cyclase isolated from the fungus Coprinus cinereus. It cyclizes (2E,6E)-farnesyl diphosphate into beta-copaene and diphosphate, also forming (+)-delta-cadinene, beta-cubebene, (+)-sativene and traces of other sesquiterpenoids (see EC 4.2.3.13, EC 4.2.3.128, EC 4.2.3.129). It appears in viruses and cellular organisms. Structurally it is a sesquiterpene cyclase.
