Beta-cubebene synthase is a sesquiterpene cyclase isolated from the fungus Coprinus cinereus; it also occurs in higher plants such as Magnolia grandiflora together with germacrene A. It cyclizes (2E,6E)-farnesyl diphosphate into beta-cubebene and diphosphate, also forming (+)-delta-cadinene, beta-copaene, (+)-sativene and traces of other sesquiterpenoids (see EC 4.2.3.13, EC 4.2.3.127, EC 4.2.3.129). It appears in viruses and cellular organisms. Structurally it is a sesquiterpene cyclase.
