Imidazolonepropionase is a hydrolase found in bacteria, eukaryotes and archaea. It hydrolyzes (S)-3-(5-oxo-4,5-dihydro-3H-imidazol-4-yl)propanoate into N-formimidoyl-L-glutamate and a proton. In histidine catabolism it opens the imidazolone ring. It features an amidohydrolase fold.
