Beta-mannosidase is a mannose-releasing exoglycosidase that hydrolyses terminal non-reducing beta-D-mannose residues in beta-D-mannosides. By removing the terminal beta-mannose it completes the lysosomal and microbial degradation of beta-mannans and N-glycan cores. It appears in viruses and cellular organisms.
