Brassinosteroid 6-oxygenase
Definition:
EC Tree > 1 Oxidoreductases > 1.14 Acting on paired donors, with incorporation or reduction of molecular oxygen > 1.14.14 With reduced flavin or flavoprotein as one donor, and incorporation of one atom of oxygen into the other donor > 1.14.14.179 brassinosteroid 6-oxygenase
Brassinosteroid 6-oxygenase is a plant cytochrome P-450 in brassinosteroid biosynthesis, 6-hydroxylating intermediates such as 6-deoxocastasterone, 6-deoxotyphasterol, 3-dehydro-6-deoxoteasterone and 6-deoxoteasterone and further oxidizing the 6-hydroxyl to a 6-oxo group; Arabidopsis CYP85A2 (but not CYP85A1) also carries out brassinolide synthase activity.
