Ca2+-transporting ATPase is a P-type ATPase that becomes covalently phosphorylated during transport; this family comprises three types found in the plasma membrane, sarcoplasmic reticulum and yeast; the first and third transport one Ca2+ per ATP, the second two, moving Ca2+ from the cytosol into the sarcoplasmic reticulum. It hydrolyzes ATP to pump Ca2+. In muscle it clears cytosolic calcium. It features a P-type ATPase fold.
