Capreomycidine synthase is a pyridoxal-phosphate-dependent cyclase in the biosynthesis of the cyclic pentapeptide antibiotic viomycin. It dehydrates (2S,3S)-3-hydroxyarginine into (2S,3R)-capreomycidine and water, forming the capreomycidine residue characteristic of viomycin and capreomycin. It appears in viruses and cellular organisms. Structurally it is a PLP-dependent arginine cyclase.
