Definition:

EC Tree > 3 Hydrolases > 3.4 Acting on peptide bonds (peptidases) > 3.4.17 Metallocarboxypeptidases > 3.4.17.15 carboxypeptidase A2
Carboxypeptidase A2 is a pancreatic zinc carboxypeptidase isolated from rat pancreas but absent from cattle pancreas, in peptidase family M14, with activity similar to carboxypeptidase A (EC 3.4.17.1) but a preference for bulkier C-terminal residues. By digesting bulky hydrophobic C-terminal residues it completes pancreatic protein digestion. It appears in viruses and cellular organisms.
