Carlactone synthase
Definition:
EC Tree > 1 Oxidoreductases > 1.13 Acting on single donors with incorporation of molecular oxygen (oxygenases) > 1.13.11 With incorporation of two atoms of oxygen > 1.13.11.69 carlactone synthase
Carlactone synthase is an Fe2+-requiring carotenoid cleavage dioxygenase found in viruses and cellular organisms, acting in strigolactone biosynthesis; it also catalyzes the all-trans-10′-apo-β-carotenal 13,14-cleaving reaction (EC 1.13.11.70) but ten-fold more slowly. With 9-cis-10′-apo-β-carotenal plus 2 O2 it yields carlactone and (2E,4E,6E)-7-hydroxy-4-methylhepta-2,4,6-trienal.
