CDP-paratose synthase is an NADPH-dependent reductase involved in synthesis of paratose and tyvelose, unusual 3,6-dideoxyhexoses that form part of the O-antigen in the lipopolysaccharides of several enteric bacteria; isolated from Salmonella enterica. Written oxidatively it converts CDP-alpha-D-paratose to CDP-4-dehydro-3,6-dideoxy-alpha-D-glucose, concomitantly reducing NADP+ to NADPH and releasing H+.
