Definition:
EC Tree > 3 Hydrolases > 3.1 Acting on ester bonds > 3.1.6 Sulfuric-ester hydrolases > 3.1.6.7 cellulose-polysulfatase
Cellulose-polysulfatase is a marine-glycosaminoglycan-desulfating sulfatase from Charonia lampas that hydrolyses the 2- and 3-sulfate groups of the polysulfates of cellulose and charonin. By sequentially removing sulfate esters from sulfated marine glycans it supports digestion of algal polysaccharides in carnivorous marine molluscs.
