Cobaltochelatase inserts Co2+ into hydrogenobyrinate a,c-diamide, the penultimate step of the aerobic (late cobalt-insertion) cobalamin pathway. It is a heterotrimeric ATP-dependent type I chelatase comprising CobN and the CobST two-polypeptide subunit pair (as in Pseudomonas denitrificans). Hydrogenobyrinate is a very poor substrate. Structurally it is an ATP-dependent cobalamin chelatase.
