Colneleate synthase is a heme-thiolate (P450) divinyl ether synthase. It selectively removes the pro-R hydrogen at C-8 in the biosynthesis of colneleic acid, converting (9S,10E,12Z)-9-hydroperoxyoctadeca-10,12-dienoate into (8E)-9-[(1E,3Z)-nona-1,3-dien-1-yloxy]non-8-enoate and water, and also forms colnelenate from (9S,10E,12Z,15Z)-9-hydroperoxy-10,12,15-octadecatrienoate. The 13-hydroperoxides are poor substrates. Structurally it is a CYP74 divinyl-ether synthase.
