Corrinoid adenosyltransferase EutT
Definition:
EC Tree > 2 Transferases > 2.5 Transferring alkyl or aryl groups, other than methyl groups > 2.5.1 Transferring alkyl or aryl groups, other than methyl groups (only sub-subclass identified to date) > 2.5.1.154 corrinoid adenosyltransferase EutT
Corrinoid adenosyltransferase EutT is the ethanolamine-utilizing corrinoid adenosyltransferase. In the corrinoid adenosylation pathway it (i) binds cob(II)alamin, displacing the lower axial ligand with an aromatic residue and raising the reduction potential by ~250 mV; (ii) accepts a second electron from a reduced flavoprotein to generate cob(I)alamin; and (iii) the cob(I)alamin attacks the adenosyl moiety of ATP, transferring deoxyadenosyl and oxidizing cobalt to Co(III). Unlike CobA/PduO types (EC 2.5.1.17), EutT hydrolyzes triphosphate to diphosphate and phosphate during catalysis. In Salmonella enterica it is encoded by the eutT gene for ethanolamine utilization. It occurs in viruses and cellular organisms.
