Cubebol synthase
Definition:
EC Tree > 4 Lyases > 4.2 Carbon-oxygen lyases > 4.2.3 Acting on phosphates > 4.2.3.91 cubebol synthase
Cubebol synthase is a Mg2+-dependent sesquiterpene cyclase that gives 28% cubebol, 29% (-)-germacrene D, 10% (+)-delta-cadinene and traces of other sesquiterpenoids (see EC 4.2.3.75 and EC 4.2.3.13). With water it converts (2E,6E)-farnesyl diphosphate into cubebol and diphosphate. It appears in viruses and cellular organisms. Structurally it is a sesquiterpene cyclase.
