Cutinase is the plant-cutin-degrading fungal esterase. It hydrolyzes cutin, a C16/C18 hydroxy-fatty-acid polymer, into cutin monomers; several fungal sources also hydrolyze p-nitrophenyl hexadecanoate, but are inactive on non-specific esterase substrates. Expected in Eukaryota and Bacteria.
