Cyanoalanine nitrilase is a nitrilase found in eukaryotes and bacteria, forming L-asparagine as an intermediate (cf. EC 4.2.1.65 and EC 3.5.1.1). It hydrolyzes 3-cyano-L-alanine with two waters into L-aspartate and ammonia. In cyanide detoxification it converts cyanoalanine. It features a nitrilase fold.
