Cytidine kinase
Definition:
EC Tree > 2 Transferases > 2.7 Transferring phosphorus-containing groups > 2.7.1 Phosphotransferases with an alcohol group as acceptor > 2.7.1.213 cytidine kinase
Cytidine kinase is the Thermococcus kodakarensis nucleoside-degradation kinase most active on cytidine. It phosphorylates cytidine on the 5'-hydroxyl, releasing ADP and CMP; it also acts on deoxycytidine and uridine, but unlike uridine kinase EC 2.7.1.48 it is most active with cytidine. Expected in Eukaryota and Archaea.
