(D)CMP kinase
Definition:
EC Tree > 2 Transferases > 2.7 Transferring phosphorus-containing groups > 2.7.4 Phosphotransferases with a phosphate group as acceptor > 2.7.4.25 (d)CMP kinase
(D)CMP kinase is the prokaryotic CMP/dCMP-specific nucleotide kinase. Using ATP as preferred donor, it phosphorylates CMP (or dCMP) on the 5'-diphosphate step, releasing ADP and (d)CDP, acting on dCMP nearly as well as CMP. Unlike eukaryotic dual-specificity EC 2.7.4.14, it phosphorylates UMP only very weakly (prokaryotic UMP is handled by EC 2.7.4.22). Expected in Bacteria, Eukaryota and Archaea.
