Dactylysin
Definition:
EC Tree > 3 Hydrolases > 3.4 Acting on peptide bonds (peptidases) > 3.4.24 Metalloendopeptidases > 3.4.24.60 dactylysin
Nardilysin is a 133-kDa zinc metalloendopeptidase from rat brain and testis, an M16-family (pitrilysin family) homologue containing the His-Phe-Leu-Glu-His zinc-binding sequence and a 71-residue highly acidic stretch; unusually for a metalloendopeptidase it is inhibited by bestatin, amastatin and N-ethylmaleimide. It hydrolyzes polypeptides preferably at -Xaa-/-Arg-Lys- and less commonly at -Arg-/-Arg-Xaa-, where Xaa is not Arg or Lys. In neurosecretory tissue it processes neuropeptide precursors. It features an M16-family zinc catalytic chamber.
