Deoxynucleoside kinase is a broad-specificity fruit-fly deoxyribonucleoside salvage kinase. It phosphorylates all four common 2'-deoxyribonucleosides (deoxyadenosine, deoxyguanosine, thymidine and deoxycytidine) at the 5'-hydroxyl, releasing ADP and the corresponding 2'-deoxyribonucleoside 5'-phosphate. It differs from the narrower Drosophila enzymes EC 2.7.1.76 and EC 2.7.1.113. It occurs in viruses and cellular organisms.
