Diguanylate cyclase
Definition:
EC Tree > 2 Transferases > 2.7 Transferring phosphorus-containing groups > 2.7.7 Nucleotidyltransferases > 2.7.7.65 diguanylate cyclase
Diguanylate cyclase is the GGDEF-domain bacterial second-messenger enzyme. It requires Mg2+ or Mn2+ and, activated by BeF3-mediated dimerization, condenses two GTP molecules, releasing two diphosphate and cyclic di-3',5'-guanylate (c-di-GMP), which controls motility, adhesion and biofilm formation and allosterically activates cellulose synthase EC 2.4.1.12. It occurs in viruses and cellular organisms.
