Definition:

EC Tree > 2 Transferases > 2.5 Transferring alkyl or aryl groups, other than methyl groups > 2.5.1 Transferring alkyl or aryl groups, other than methyl groups (only sub-subclass identified to date) > 2.5.1.24 discadenine synthase
Discadenine synthase is a Dictyostelium cytokinin-like enzyme. It transfers the 3-amino-3-carboxypropyl group from S-adenosyl-L-methionine onto N6-(delta2-isopentenyl)-adenine, releasing S-methyl-5'-thioadenosine and forming discadenine, the spore germination inhibitor of Dictyostelium discoideum. It occurs in Dictyostelium.
